Mexico Dear Delegate, You are very welcome to Guadalajara, Mexico which is located to 540 km northwest of Mexico City and is the proud state capital of Jalisco. Blessed with excellent temperatures ranging from 11º to 26º C (52º to 79º F), Guadalajara ranks among Mexico’s three most important cities and it is home to some of the nation’s most important cultural symbols (mariachi, tequila, the hat dance and Mexican rodeos). Regarding security, it is important to remark that not every area has been affected by violence which is localized in very specific areas like Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro and many other surrounding areas have good security standards and crime has not reached them. However, as in other tourist destinations throughout the world, crime is a fact of life. Taxi service is efficient, fast and comfortable. However, you must be cautious when boarding taxis circulating in the streets. When you arrive at Guadalajara’s airport, look for authorized taxis. To do so, you must go to a specialized booth clearly marked with a “Taxis Autorizados” sign. At your hotel ask the front desk manager to call an authorized taxi for you.
